Astronaut manatee in space: Venus
Astronaut manatee in space: Venus
About the Design
Indisputable facts about the solar system thanks to our fearless explorer the
manatee astronaut. As soon as I started reading facts about Venus to decide
how to work on this illustration, I was thinking "spa day".
And what a day: a day on Venus is longer than a year. Venus is hotter than
Mercury despite being further away from the Sun. Its temperature is 462°C:
the high concentration of carbon dioxide in Venus’ atmosphere produce a
powerful greenhouse effect. Also, the clouds of sulfuric acid in Venus’
atmosphere make it reflective and shiny so much so that Venus is the second
brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon. Hot, shrouded in
clouds and with very long days: it's a spa.
And where's a spa, there's a manatee chilling in there. (Or at least, it should
be) If you need more reasons to love Venus, maybe the fact that it is upside
down could interest you? Apparently, all the other planets spin anti-clockwise
and orbit the Sun in an anti-clockwise direction. Venus was knocked off its
upright position somewhere in her long history from a colliding celestial body.
